The Engagement

On November 2, 2007 we drove just south of San Francisco and went here:

Which is, as you can see, a mountain lion habitat. We didn't see any mountain lions but Clay said that if a mountain lion did come along he would fight the lion. Susan said that she would rather Clay just back away with her and he said he would actually rather do that as well.
So, knowing what to do in case of lions, we walked around the lake without fear and sat down in front of the lake. Clay then recited this sonnet by Mr. William Shakespeare:

SONNET 91
Some glory in their birth, some in their skill,
Some in their wealth, some in their bodies' force,
Some in their garments, though new-fangled ill,
Some in their hawks and hounds, some in their horse;
And every humour hath his adjunct pleasure,

And presented this ring!

And asked for Susan's hand in marriage.




And she said yes!

Fortunately, we are still engaged the next day! Here is Susan being engaged:

The only thing left out of all that is that we had our engagement lunch with Rob Reich at a burrito place in the Mission. It was very good. Susan had a shrimp burrito and Clay had a chicken quesadilla.
